"When that time comes, Mikha'el, the great prince who champions your people, will stand up; and there will be a time of distress unparalleled between the time they became a nation and that moment. At that time, your people will be delivered, everyone whose name is found written in the book.
The name Mikha'el means "who is like God" and, here, we see that he is the angel assigned by God to protect the people of Israel. We see that Daniel is told by the other angel that, when the anti-christ is fully established, Mikha'el will stand up for the Jewish people but it will be a time of suffering worse than anything they have ever been through. As we saw in chapter 11, the Jewish people are going to suffer because they will not worship the anti-christ. Daniel is told that, during that time, the Jews whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life will be delivered and this speaks of the Jewish people who have accepted Yeshua Messiah.
Many of those sleeping in the dust of the earth will awaken, some to everlasting life and some to everlasting shame and abhorrence. But those who can discern will shine like the brightness of heaven's dome, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.
The dead will rise with some receiving eternal life while others face eternal judgement. Those who have shared the truth of the gospel will shine like the stars.
"But you, Dani'el, keep these words secret, and seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will rush here and there as knowledge increases."
Daniel is told to seal up this book until the time of the end because they can not be fully understood until that time. He is also told that, as knowledge increases, many people will still wander around aimlessly.
Then I, Dani'el, looked; and I saw in front of me two others, one on this bank of the river and the other on its other bank. One of them asked the man dressed in linen who was above the water of the river, "How long will these wonders last?" The man dressed in linen who was above the water of the river raised his right and left hands toward heaven and swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times and a half, and that it will be when the the power of the holy people is no longer being shattered that all these things will end.
Now, Daniel sees two more angels with one on each bank of the Tigris River. Daniel heard one of the angels ask the angel that had been speaking to him when this kingdom would be established and he is told that there will be three and a half years of suffering for the Jewish people. Daniel also hears that its purpose is to shatter the power of the people which speaks of their efforts to save themselves.
I heard this, but I couldn't understand what it meant; so I asked, "Lord, what will be the outcome of all this?" But he said, "Go your way, Dani'el; for these words are to remain secret and sealed until the time of the end.
Daniel did not understand what all of this meant and so he asked but was told it could not be understood until the last days.
Many will purify, cleanse and refine themselves; but the wicked will keep on acting wickedly, and none of the wicked will understand. But those with discernment will understand. From the time the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. How blessed will be anyone who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days.
Daniel is told that, between his day and the last days, many would accept Yeshua Messiah and grow spiritually but those who do not accept him will continue to oppose the will of God and they will not be able to understand these things. We see that this period of time starts when the abomination that causes desolation is set up which is when the anti-christ sets himself up to be worshipped in the temple. Here the number of days is given as 1290 instead of the 1260 given in Revelation 12 as there is another 30 days which is the length of time for mourning throughout the Bible and in Judaism. Here, this extra thirty days speaks of the people mourning over their rejection of Yeshua Messiah. Then, we see that those who endure for that period of time and an additional 45 days (a total of 75 days more than the 1260) will be happy and blessed. The number 75 speaks of a time of exile as 75 people went down to Egypt seeking exile in the book of Genesis and, in the book of Luke, there are listed 75 people in the lineage of Yeshua which spoke of his mission to deliver people from exile. This delivery starts with the opening of a fountain for the Jewish people (see Zechariah 13) which is for a day of baptism for the Jewish people and a 75 day period of cleansing until Hanukah which is related to the dedication of the temple. In this case, there will be a 75 day period of cleansing for the Jewish people before the final Hanukah and the dedication of the millennial temple.
But you, go your way until the end comes. Then you will rest and rise for your reward, at the end of days."
Daniel is told to carry on in his walk with God and that he is going to die and rest but, in the last day, he would rise to receive his reward.
